Urban planning

Read about Marijana's Urban Planning

As an urban and cultural planner, Marijana possesses a unique mix of skills:

  • understanding of Indigenous issues and the intercultural exchanges within our contemporary Australian culture,
  • formal art training and
  • experience in the construction industry.

These provide her with an unique ability to deliver outcomes that are conceptually progressive, but structurally and physically achievable and authentic. She has worked successfully with urban planning teams, to complete a number of important urban projects: Woodville Road Village Master Plan, The Victor Harbor Town Centre Master Plan, Northern Lefevre Peninsula Open Spaces Detailed Master Plan , Murray Bridge Urban Growth Management Plan, and other sites. Marijana believes that a collaborative urban design approach provides opportunities to address economical, social and environmental issues, through our commitment to sustainable patterns of living; through work, transport and food supply. The urban spaces integrating public art or design support our awareness of human dependence on the natural environment, and promote partnerships that conserve, protect and restore the health of our planet’s ecosystem. These projects can also become a symbol of the local culture proudly promoted as a tourist destination. Marijana’s experience of international urban design and her intercultural sensitivities provide her with an invaluable understanding of indigenous protocols and expectations. With abilities to involve all people in the decision making, she believes in genuine community consultation where local community decisions and stories are integrated into the urban design fabric.
